Sallie Mae and the “Smart Option Student Loan”

Written on March 24, 2009 by Boris Nowalski in News

A brief update for our US candidates: in April Sallie Mae will be offering a renewed approach to education loans for American students who wish to study in the United States or abroad.

Instead of applying for various different loan options depending on you program, now students can apply for a Smart Option Student Loan for their program at IE, be it the International MBA, a Master of Laws (LLM) or other program.  According to Sallie Mae, the new offer is:

“…a new private loan that enables students to save money, build good credit, and repay their student loan debt sooner. Students could save thousands of dollars over the life of the new loan and could pay off the balance nine years faster, compared to most other private student loan alternatives. In today’s difficult economy, families have become even more aware of the risks associated with too much debt and poor credit habits. Sallie Mae has developed the new Sallie Mae Smart Option Student LoanSM to help safeguard families from these risks.”

Building your “power” team at IE Business School

Written on March 13, 2009 by Guillermo Montes in Academics, Education, Explore IE, News

Many of the candidates I interview during the admission process to IE Business School are very interested in strengthening their skills to become better professionals.

This means getting a strong understanding about finance to deal with the realities of the success or failure of a project, to be able to build a strong campaign or marketing launch for a product or service, or to be able to integrate new strategies in an ever changing business environment.

These are all goals that you can achieve participating with an active role during the hectic duration of the program.

But many ask me about their goal to work and integrate themselves in a diverse environment with students and faculty from a large number of countries.

To get this interaction going, IE Business School implemented a program called LAUNCH (click link to see the video). This is conducted at the beginning of  each intake of the International MBA program and it is aimed at building not only the knowledge but also the skills to create and grow strong teams that need to perform difficult tasks -like the ones we deal with in today´s business- under difficult circumstances and time sensitive deadlines.

The video explains how these interactions begin, and how they turn into working relationships that are streghtened during the classes and projects, and go far beyond the duration of the program. See for yourself!!
