We are excited to introduce Tara, Vincent and Christina as our MRCB ambassadors from North America! They are a few of the nine ambassadors from around the globe actively participating in the MRCB (Facebook and Tumblr). You can follow them during their experience in Madrid and what it’s like to be a student at IE in the Master in Market Research & Consumer Behavior!
Tara Deighton, Toronto, Canada
Hi everyone! I will be one of the three ambassadors regularly blogging about the MRCB experience this year. Before coming to IE, I was based in Toronto, Canada working for Victoria’s Secret in International Operations and Customer Experience. Currently, I am completing an IMBA + MRCB Dual Degree at IE. I arrived in Madrid in October, 2014 and have loved every minute of this incredible experience. In addition to being an MRCB Ambassador, I am a coordinator of the Women in Business Club and an MBA Alumni Ambassador.
Why IE?: For me it was the ability to combine the MBA and MRCB into a dual degree, the perfect combination for my career goals. It was not even offered as a dual degree when I enquired about it, which just goes to show how flexible and innovative this school can be!
On the Weekend: You will find me relaxing in Retiro Park, or taking advantage of Madrid’s location and taking off on a weekend getaway.
Favorite thing about Madrid: Other than how accessible the rest of Europe is? It’s a toss up between the amazing weather and the atmosphere of a classical European city.
Christina Veliz, Los Angeles, USA
My name is Christina Veliz and I’m from Los Angeles, California! This year, I’ll be updating the Facebook page with all the great and exciting things we’ll be doing this year in our program! I come from a very different background, Audio and Visual Communications. I’ve been living in Madrid for about 2 and half years already, studying at the Spanish University and Teaching English. Then I found this amazing program! Two months into it, and I cannot tell you how much we’ve all been learning, not only about Market Research and Consumer Behavior, but about ourselves! This program is definitely intensive, but rewarding!
Why IE?: Because why not?! Location is perfect, the networking is amazing and it’s a mixture of two top degrees in 10 months!
On the Weekend: Shopping in the city center, practicing flamenco and getting ready for a fun night out!
Favorite things about Madrid: The culture, the people and how there is always something to do!
Vincent Thielke, Minneapolis, USA
Graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Along with Tara and Juliana, I too will be blogging about my MRCB experience. Though I began my professional career in the field of digital marketing, I have started orienting myself more toward project management. Working in a multicultural office is one thing; learning in a multicultural classroom is a whole ‘nother ballpark! In addition to studying, I also coordinate the Mountaineering and Public Speaking clubs here at IE.
Why IE?: I chose IE because it meshed perfectly with my profile. It’s international, it’s practical, and the classes are giving me the foundation I need in order to reach my career goals. What’s not to love ?
On the Weekend: I’ll probably be somewhere in Madrid relaxing from an intense week of classes, whether it be running in the Retiro or meeting friends for dinner or a drink.
Favorite thing about Madrid: The fact that there are mountains in such close proximity. I love big cities, but I appreciate connecting with nature every once in a while 🙂
